#35 Books That Make You Heal – Susana Stoica

We’re talking about Books That Make You heal, specifically from a brain injury. If we find ourselves or a loved one with a brain injury like a stroke, how can we cope?

Even if somebody seems to recover full brain functionality after a concussion, they could have problems later. Following a major or prolonged emotional or physical trauma, the TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) / concussion could easily resurface as a wide array of other illnesses. Think of loved ones in accidents, sports injuries, on the job, and more.

Things like cooking can be therapy and a great way to eat healthily. You might not think of cooking as being that kind of strategy, but Susana Stoica does.

About Susana Stoica

Susana wrote the best-seller “Cooking after Brain Injury: Easy Cooking for Recovery.” She is dedicated to people who are trying to recover from traumatic brain injury.  This is a new way of cooking that deals with the typical issues related to brain trauma. These are  problems with concentration, sequencing, and figuring out what dishes go together.

She also wrote: Heal your Brain, Reclaim your Life: How to Recover and Thrive after Concussion,” and Reluctant Healer: An Introduction to Energy Healing.” Susana is a great resource and has done presentations on brain injury recovery. She also teaches alternative healing to nurses, doctors, and laypeople. Finally, Susana presented classes, speeches, and workshops to medical students at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, to Ph.D. level Social Studies students at the Wayne State University, University Michigan Holistic Nurses, Kaiser Permanente doctors, and nurses to name a few.

Today’s episode is packed with great information.  Brain injury is tragic and scary, but there is something that can be done about it.  More importantly, it’s a healthy alternative. Enjoy the show.
