VACANT by S. Graham

Our Review:

S. Graham’s Vacant is a chilling and gripping thriller that will leave readers on the edge of their seats. Based on true events, this paranormal ghost story is not for the faint of heart. The story follows Becca, a mother of two who relocates with her family in search of a new home. While the move itself is nothing new to Becca, what comes with the new house is entirely unexpected. As she begins to settle in, Becca experiences chilling supernatural occurrences that are only witnessed by her, at first. She soon discovers that the house is not vacant, and an unknown entity is in taunting her.

From the very beginning, Vacant grabs readers and doesn’t let go. The pacing is very quick, and the story unfolds seamlessly. The author does a fantastic job of building suspense and creating a hurried and eerie atmosphere that will leave readers with goosebumps. The tension in the book is palpable, and readers will find themselves holding their breath as the pages turn. The vivid descriptions of the paranormal occurrences will give readers chills, and the story is guaranteed to linger long after the final page is turned.

Almost immediately after moving in Becca realizes there is a very good reason no one else wanted to rent this house, and why they received such a good “deal”. She soon discovers she, and her family, are being tormented by an aggressive child apparition. The souls’ presence in the house starts to take a toll on the family’s well-being, both physically and mentally. Becca’s sleep becomes disturbed as the child ghost appears in her room, and she constantly feels like someone is watching her every move. As the ghost becomes more violent, Becca’s concern for her children’s safety grows. The children are also affected by the ghost’s presence, calling it a zombie and expressing their fear in their own way. The home becomes a nightmare.  The story follows the family’s life living with the haunting child for a year until the suspense bubbles over.  The child spirit is relentless, and the family is forced to confront their worst fears to try and survive their nightmare.

Overall, Vacant is an excellent thriller that will satisfy any reader’s craving for a good ghost story. The authenticity of the events and the skillful writing make it a standout in the genre. The story is creepy, suspenseful, and will leave readers avoiding balloons. It is the perfect book for those who love a quick paranormal thrill and want a story that will keep them up at night.

S. Graham’s Vacant is a spine-tingling tale that will leave readers on edge long after they turn the final page. This gripping story draws readers in from the start and keeps them hooked with a perfect balance of suspense, terror, and relatable characters. The fact that this story is based on true events only adds to its eerie authenticity, making it an even more captivating read. For those who love a good ghost story, Vacant is a must-read that will have them sleeping with the lights on for days to come. S. Graham’s masterful storytelling will leave a haunting impression on readers long after they’ve finished reading Vacant.
