S:02 E:17 Books That Make You Laugh At Our Crumbling Future, with Bill McCormick and Desiree Duffy

Sometimes speculative fiction takes us on harrowing paths, but with an overall dry and entertaining sensibility. The writers who take us on such adventures are often some of the most fun — and frightening — to engage with.

Case in point: Bill McCormick, author of “The Brittle Riders Trilogy”, described as “Lord of the Rings” meets “Tank Girl”. After the death of every man, woman, and child on the planet,  things get a little…weird. Apocalypses are funny that way. As Omnibus puts it: “If David Brin came off a three-day tequila bender and dropped acid, he would have written The Brittle Riders.”

Bill McCormick has penned everything from dystopian nightmares to children’s stories. He’s written for multiple outlets, including Chicago Rocker Magazine, in conjunction with his radio show on Z-95 (ABC-FM), the sports blog at Jay The Joke, which was featured in ESPN (The Magazine), Sports Illustrated, the Jonathon Brandmeir Show (WLUP), and referenced many times in the Chicago Sun Times and Chicago Tribune. He still writes a twisted news blog at World News Center, which provides source material for his weekly appearances on The Big Wake Up Call which airs on WBIG 1280 AM, FOX! Sports.
