5 Tips to Help You Relax Before Starting to Read a New Book

Reading is one of the best ways to unwind at the end of a busy day. Although losing yourself in a book is relaxing, sometimes it can be difficult to maintain focus. This is especially true when you have so many things on your mind. However, by creating the perfect ambiance and using a few helpful tips, you will soon feel relaxed enough to fully immerse yourself in your new novel.

1- Create the Perfect Reading Nook

Reading is supposed to be enjoyable, so find yourself a perfect spot before you get started. If it’s a beautiful day, take your book outside and sit on a comfortable lounge chair or blanket in the garden. You can also make a cozy reading nook in the corner of a room in your home. Make sure there are few distractions in your chosen spot, and light a candle or some incense to set the right mood.

2- Steep a Pot of Herbal Tea

Herbal tea is well known for its relaxing properties, so why not steep a pot to enjoy as you read? If you’re looking for soothing blends, lavender, and chamomile are comforting and taste wonderful with a spoonful of honey or some stevia. A warm cup of tea is especially nice to enjoy when reading on a cold winter’s day.

3- Add CBD to Your Daily Wellness Routine

Try CBD oil if you find it particularly difficult to relax and concentrate. CBD oil is all-natural and comes from hemp plants and quiets the nerves while promoting relaxation. You can purchase CBD oil online and through local retailers. Simply place a small dropper of the oil under your tongue and swallow. You can even add it to your favorite beverage. After a few minutes, you’ll notice an increased sense of calm so you can focus on reading.

4- Take Frequent Breaks

While reading is a relaxing hobby, you must still take occasional breaks. Optimally, aim for no more than fifty minutes of reading before getting up to do something else. After your short break, you can focus on reading for another fifty minutes. Taking these breaks will allow your brain to rest so you don’t miss any small details as you read.

5- Reduce Stress to Enhance Your Focus

If you find it particularly difficult to focus on your book because you’re distracted by other things, consider trying a different activity before settling in to read. Meditation is an excellent technique to help you work on mindfulness. You can also clear your mind by writing your thoughts down on paper. Not every activity works perfectly for everyone, so you may want to try a few to see which works for you.

While these relaxation tips seem simple, they are quite effective when put into practice. By changing your routine and implementing these strategies, you’ll enhance your reading experience and get the most out of your favorite books.
