Interview with Rebecca Hendricks Author of Hound Dogged

Q.Tell me about your book from your point of view

A. Hound Dogged is a story about hope and friendship. It’s about having friends who accept you for who you are and will be there for you no matter what. It’s about having the strength to accept who you truly are, and what you want and not settle for less. It’s a story of sacrifice and finding your way in the world when you are young. It Is a story about following your heart. A story we can all learn from. Be who you are, and the rest will follow.

Q.What was the most challenging part of writing your book?

Learning how to write good descriptions. I don’t enjoy that part of telling a story so when I write freestyle, I don’t write a lot of descriptions.

Also, I hadn’t written in a long time, and getting back into a groove was a challenge. Moving away from my bad writing habits was hard.

Q.What type of reader will enjoy your book?

A.Hound Dogged“appeals to a diverse range of readers who are drawn to compelling storytelling, rich character development, and themes of friendship, ambition, and self-discovery. Music enthusiasts will be captivated by the band’s journey through the ups and downs of the music industry, while those interested in human relationships will appreciate the depth of the characters and their interactions. Fans of coming-of-age stories will resonate with the themes of growth and self-realization, while readers who enjoy thought-provoking narratives will find plenty to ponder in the book’s exploration of success and its true value.

Q.Can you tell me three fun facts about the main characters of your book?

A.John is a free spirited, lives in the moment, maverick. He tends to show a tough intimidating persona and he often uses fake names when meeting new people. He has been hurt a lot in his past and this is his way of protecting himself. His close friends are like family and when he cares for someone it is with his whole heart and devotion. If you cross him, it is near impossible to regain his trust.

Danny is an incredible guitar player; he is also humble and kind. He knows how to work on cars. He likes the simple things in life and performing with his friends.

Jerry had a tough childhood losing his father when he was young, he was raised by his mother who married a mean hateful man who abuses them both. Despite all of this, Jerry is a kind quiet soul. He is John’s best friend and the only one John will truly listen to. Jerry’s journey during the series is quite remarkable as he grows into a strong, resilient, young man.

Q.What do you hope will be the everlasting thoughts for readers after finishing your book?

A.I aspire for readers to believe in themselves and their dreams, regardless of the challenges life may present. Disappointments and doubt are inevitable but don’t let that define you or your journey.

Don’t let your past experiences define you and always know the best is in front of you.

Q.What do you want readers to know about your book?

A.Hound Dogged, is a captivating tale of friendship, ambition, and the pursuit of dreams against the backdrop of a changing world. Through vibrant characters and compelling storytelling, the band members of The Hound Dogs navigate the highs and lows of the music industry, facing internal doubts, external threats, and the true meaning of success. This thought-provoking journey offers insightful lessons on friendship, trust, and growing up, inviting readers to reflect on their own experiences. With its blend of rock and roll excitement and poignant storytelling, Hound Dogged promises to entertain, inspire, and resonate with audiences of all ages.

Q.What is your favorite passage from your book?

A.Maybe Danny had walked out on stardom, and maybe he would be poor, but he would be happy, and he would be free.

Q.What inspired you to write Growing Up Hollywood?

A.I originally wrote a version of this story when I was fourteen. I spent countless hours in my room on the floor writing pages in long hands. I always felt that someday, when I was older, I would enjoy reading the story again. I wrote twenty-six books in that series. Several times over the past years I almost threw away the series, but something inside told me to keep it.

A few years ago, I had the desire to read those books again. I had no intention of rewriting it, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So, one day I had some spare time on my hands and decided to write the story I had always dreamt of. The rest is history.

Q.Why should readers choose to read your book?

A.Readers should choose to read Hound Dogged because it offers a dynamic and immersive journey into the world of friendship, music, and self-discovery. Through richly developed characters and a compelling plot, the book explores themes of ambition, camaraderie, and the pursuit of dreams amidst societal upheaval. Whether you’re drawn to the excitement of the music industry or intrigued by the complexities of human relationships, the story offers something for everyone. Its insightful lessons on friendship, trust, and the true meaning of success will resonate with readers long after they’ve turned the final page. So, if you’re looking for a story that will entertain, inspire, and provoke thoughts.

Q.What was your favorite experience while writing your book?

Having a chance to write a story that has been in my heart for decades.
