4 Reasons You Should Make Time To Read Even When You’re Busy

Reading books (or listening to them!)  is so important for so many reasons, but it can also be time-consuming and sometimes life just gets in the way. But like anything else you do in your free time that you enjoy doing, you have to try your hardest to make time for reading no matter how busy you are! Here are 4 great reasons why.

Sharpen Your Brain

The work world can be completely soul-draining at times. Especially if you work in an office where you have to stare at a computer all day long, your eyes and brain can get tired. If you run your own business, you likely have even less free time than the average person. But don’t let marketing yourself and having to keep track of endless budgets keep you from sharpening your brain on your own terms by reading a little bit of a book every time you get the chance.

Escape Reality

Everyone needs a little escape from the realities and pressures of work, school, or home life every once in a while. There’s nothing wrong with this, but there are a lot of unhealthy ways to escape such as using drugs or alcohol. Reading a good book, especially one that is set in a very different world than the one you’re used to living in, is one of the best ways to get a little escape. The best news is that it’s very inexpensive, and definitely not bad for your health.

Learn New Things

There are books on just about every topic in the world, and so many different genres. So whether you’re reading a self help book, fantasy novel, an encyclopedia about birds or anything in between, you are guaranteed to learn something new either about yourself or the world around you.

Self Care

Self care comes in many different forms and a perfect regimen looks different for every person – there is no one size fits all. Some people like to take a hot bubble bath in their down time while others enjoy cooking a meal, and for others still, their ideal form of self care is cuddling up with a good book. If you can’t set aside several hours a day (or week) to read, don’t worry! Just fit it in whenever you can and you will feel so much better for it.

So you see, there are so many benefits to reading books. Even if you lead a busy lifestyle, you should still try to make time for it whenever possible to help you learn things, keep your brain sharp, relax, take care of your mental health, and escape from reality when needed.
